So Wednesday night already - the time is flying here in the big apple.
Monday - got the laptop and re-did my resume to suit US requirements - apparently 1 page is all they want to see and it needs to capture people pretty much in the first line - EEEK - anyway I must have done something right as it got me an interview at a recruitment agency that they call head hunters here.
Tuesday - met up with a friend from Melbourne and his girlfriend - we had lunch at a cute cafe and it was just so lovely indulging in a few hours of Aussie accents! Penelope Cafe
This is now my go to cafe when friends are in town.
Wednesday - got out of bed at 11am (thanks to a Jewish new year holiday my gym was closed - was out of my control) got my corporate on and caught the subway to my destiny - saw a guy get arrested in the subway - had an interview with 4 different recruitment agents - all bubbly and excited to meet me apparently. Returned home to change into my going out wear to go to a nyc meet up group drinks night. Lasted 2 beers - spoke to an eccentric older lady who has just decided to become a writer and a younger programmer guy who pretty much kept watching the football over my shoulder on the TV. Surely he could have stayed home to do that - I excused myself to go to the bathroom and kept walking.
Funny here - the first thing you get asked is what do you do - meaning for a living, in some cases if what you do will not help that person in any way they are off or out of interest - shallow but that is how it is. People are here to make it and they will use what ever and whom ever they can if they think it will help. At least it is obvious when it happens.
So now, I am home in my Pj's - just had some ice-cream and the world is again a happy place. Pity the gym is open tomorrow............
Thankfully the hotdogs are always there....and delicious!
Glad you are keeping nice and busy and I am loving reading about your adventures.
