SoHo is downtown East Side on Manhattan and is very trendy with food and clothing shops galore - those from Melbourne could imagine maybe a Prahran or South Melbourne type area.
High residential area as well but all of NYC is - every inch of this city is used for something or someone
Groovy industrial cafe called The Daily
and yes, you may recall I came across this friend a few days ago, well it turned up again and lets just say this time I was not walking past without a hello. Spinach and feta pie - OMG. It cost me $5 and 5 hours of walking but so so worth it.
The next few streets took me through China town and all the usual things that go with any China town
If you need it China town has it.
Just below China town is the entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge - where I was originally headed until I got side tracked.
You can walk over this bridge to Brooklyn and 100's of people do every day.
I have walked it a few times but it never ceases to make me smile and feel excited - the bridge itself is amazing and the views are 5 star
Tho - there is a little construction on the bridge at the moment so some parts are walled up.
Looking back to Manhattan
The statue of Liberty in the distance
The destination - Brooklyn. I actually walked all the way into Fulton Mall which is down town Brooklyn - it is kind of like a mini Manhattan. I stayed for about an hour and did not really touch the surface and it was getting late so Brooklyn in back on the itinerary for another day.
Doing Brooklyn myself was already 500 times better than the poxy bus tour I did when I first arrived. Brooklyn is growing on me and I will explore more later ... stay tuned.
